Morning: Departure from Punakha to Bumthang
o After breakfast, leave Punakha early for the journey to Bumthang, located in central Bhutan. This scenic drive takes you providing spectacular views of the countryside. The journey will take approximately 6-7 hours, so enjoy the beautiful surroundings along the way.
En Route: Visit Trongsa Dzong
o Trongsa Dzong: Stop at Trongsa Dzong for a visit to this monumental fortress, which is a major landmark in Bhutan. Built in 1644, it has played a pivotal role in Bhutanese history, serving as the administrative and religious center of central Bhutan. Youll be able to explore its courtyards, temples, and learn about its history, including its role in the power structure of Bhutans monarchy. The dzong is perched on a hill with sweeping views of the surrounding valleys.
Visit Yathra Weaving Centre
o After your visit to the dzong, stop by the Yathra Weaving Centre in Trongsa. Yathra is a traditional Bhutanese woolen fabric, often woven into intricate patterns. The center offers a glimpse into the weaving process and is an excellent place to purchase handwoven textiles, such as scarves, blankets, and bags. Learn about the art of weaving, which has been passed down through generations in Bhutan.
Jakar Dzong is one of the most important historical and cultural landmarks in Bumthang Valley, located in central Bhutan. It is also known as the Fortress of the White Bird due to a legend that relates to the origin of the dzong. Heres a detailed look at Jakar Dzong:

Morning: Visit Jambay Lhakhang
o Jambay Lhakhang: Start your day with a visit to Jambay Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan, believed to have been constructed in the 7th century by King Songtsen Gampo of Tibet. The temple has significant religious value, especially for Bhutanese Buddhists, and is known for its unique architecture and historical significance. If visiting in November, you may also witness the famous Jambay Lhakhang Drup festival, where you can experience vibrant dances and prayers.
Visit Kurjey Lhakhang
o Kurjey Lhakhang: Next, head to Kurjey Lhakhang, a complex of temples set in a picturesque location along the banks of the Chamkhar River. This sacred site is associated with the meditation of Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava), who is said to have left an imprint of his body on a rock here. The temple complex is surrounded by peaceful gardens and beautiful forested areas, making it a serene place for spiritual reflection.

Burning Lake (Mebar Tsho)
o Burning Lake (Mebar Tsho): Burning Lake, a sacred site located about 30-45 minutes from the town of Jakar. Mebar Tsho is one of Bhutans holiest sites, where Pema Lingpa, a revered saint, is said to have discovered hidden religious treasures. According to legend, Pema Lingpa dived into the lake with a lamp that miraculously remained lit, which is why the lake has earned the name Burning Lake.
Visit Red Panda Beer Factory
o If youre interested and time allows, visit the Red Panda Beer Factory in Bumthang. Bhutans first microbrewery offers visitors the chance to see how Red Panda Beer is made and sample different varieties of the beer. The visit is both educational and fun, as it showcases the growing craft beer culture in Bhutan.
Optional Short Hike or Walk
o If you have time and energy, consider a short hike in the Bumthang Valley. You can take a walk along the river or explore other parts of the valleys stunning natural beauty. The area offers peaceful, scenic walking routes that give you a deeper connection to the surroundings.

After breakfast, drive to Phobjikha Valley- (about 4-5 hours).
Phobjikha Valley: Arrive in the stunning Phobjikha Valley, known for its rich biodiversity and as the winter home to the endangered black-necked cranes.
Visit Gangtey Monastery: This monastery is one of the largest in Bhutan and is a significant site for the Nyingma school of Buddhism. The monastery offers incredible views of the surrounding valley.

To proceed, we require a passport copy with at least six months validity, along with a passport-size photo, before the trip begins.Once the e-visa is approved, we will forward it to you. Please ensure you carry a printed or digital copy while traveling to Bhutan and present it upon arrival at Paro Airport.
